Hip-Hop is all about creativity, self-expression, and empowerment. Students will learn the rhythms and movements of Hip-Hop, the five elements of Hip-Hop, grooves, fundamentals, history, musicality, and terminology in its relation to the Hip-Hop dance culture. A beginner-friendly Hip-Hop dance combo and education around Hip-Hop. In recent years, hip hop has become one of the most popular music genres in the world, and has had a significant impact on popular culture and fashion. Dig deep with Skyhawks Volleyball! This program combines the thrill of volleyball with fun while focusing on passing, setting, spiking, hitting, and serving. Beyond skills, volleyball programs emphasize leadership and teamwork, fostering growth as players and team members. Skyhawks St. Louis provides classes and camps to ages 2-14 across 10 different sports. Our programs give participants a fun, laid-back environment to learn the basics of a sport and to develop athletic and life skills. It involves a combination of strikes, kicks, and defensive techniques, as well as mental discipline and focus. The primary goal of Karate is to develop physical and mental strength, discipline, and self-defense skills. Practitioners of Karate can improve their physical fitness, balance, coordination, and flexibility, while also learning self-defense techniques and developing mental focus and discipline. Karate can also provide a range of other benefits. For example, it can help reduce stress and anxiety, improve confidence and self-esteem, and promote a sense of community and camaraderie among practitioners. Robotics with Edison: Learn to code, build and explore! This experience combines computational thinking, computer programming, and hands-on STEM education in an engaging and accessible way. Edison is a safe, programmable robot designed to introduce students to the world of coding and robotics. In Nexplore Robotics, students advance through different programming levels as their skills grow, starting with icon-based drag-and-drop coding, progressing to block-based coding, and eventually moving into text-based programming. Through exploration, iteration, and collaboration, students build essential 21st-century skills and grow their confidence in problem-solving and technology. Offered in partnership with Nexplore USA. Parkway students may use their school-provided Chromebooks. Students from outside the Parkway district are welcome but must bring their own laptop or Chromebook. A competitive program where teams are formed and divided by age and skill level. Teams compete in multiple tournaments during the season both in and out of state. Tryouts are open to all athletes who meet the Gateway age requirements. Tryout times will be determined in early September and posted at the Rockwood Thunder website. Tryout fee is a non-refundable $35 fee per player.
